The Configure Multipliers table allows you to save a ton of time with math and guess work. We have used trigonometry to generate the required multipliers to figure the roof pitch area by simply finding the roof deck area.
For Example: A roof that has a pitch of 1/12, or for every one foot vertical roof distance (rise) there is 12 feet of horizontal roof distance (run).
a=1 b=12 c=?
12+122=c2
145=c2
C=12.041594578
We are not necessarily looking to know what C is in this case. We want to know how it relates to b in our example because b represents the roof deck and c is the roof pitch area.
Therefore: c/b = ratio or multiplier
12.041594578/12 = 1.00347 which is our multiplier
Roof Multiplier: Multiply the Roof Deck by the Multiplier to get the area of the pitched roof.
